Omaggio a Morandi miniature marble sculptures.
A beguiling fusion of art and interior design.
The still life paintings of Giorgio Morandi are known for their pensive nature and muted tones. For the Omaggio a Morandi series in collaboration with Salvatori, Elisa Ossino has drawn upon the Italian painter’s simplicity of form in his still life images, reproducing them in stunning marble.
The smooth, uninterrupted forms found in the collection recall the vessels Morandi spent his life recreating in paint on canvas.
Ossino was also inspired by the array of different types of stone she encountered working with Salvatori, from the classic elegance of Bianco Carrara and Botticino to the dramatic intensity of Cipollino and Rosso Collemandina, all marbles used in some of Italy’s most iconic architecture.
Each piece can be displayed separately or together as a group with the natural stones’ muted colours beautifully complementing and contrasting one another.
