Designers Glenn Pushelberg and George Yabu describe their Anima collection as the result of applying “the sensibilities of clay to marble”. A translation of the Italian word for “soul”, it does indeed strip stone down to its true essence, emphasising its sensuousness and spiritual qualities. The gentle curves of each piece create a sense of tranquillity and a world in which the bathroom is a true haven of wellbeing for the mind and body, far away from the maelstrom of the world outside. The Anima toilet roll holder continues the theme of calmness and simplicity, but here it is interpreted in wood rather than stone. An elegant support in pale oak combines with a metal arm to transform what is often a banal necessity into a discreet yet stylish accessory for the bathroom, but one which could also be used as a tea towel holder in the kitchen.
